On Wednesday 30th July 2008 I am to be a guest on the programme "This Morning ITV1 with Dr Chris Steele and Eamon Holmes. I shall be telling my story, which of course is a variation on a theme of thousands of stories out there.This is the first time this has been on mainstream television. I was a guest on Granada Satelite TV with Dr Chris Steele in 1997 and 1998 talking on the same issue but it is the mainstream media we need.

I am in my 15th year of campaigning for a change in clinical practice regarding the

DIAGNOSIS AND MANAGEMENT OF THYROID CONDITIONS

 

Why is the medical profession continuing to use incorrect terminology when referring to thyroid chemistry e.g.

"normal range"?

 

The medical profession was warned about the usage of the words "normal range" in the 1990's by one of the developers of the reference range concept.

 

17 years later and there is still no change.

I have been in communication with Professor Ralph Grasbeck (March 2007) one of the developers of the reference range concept and he is most disturbed by the use of incorrect terminology.

 

Now is the time to be more assertive. We need the mainstream media on board!
